Junior Mechanic
This is what you will do
Kick-start your career as a Junior Test & Run Fitter in the tool hire industry at Boels Rental in Leeds. In this role, you'll assist with the testing of kit to ensure that it is ready for use. The role will eventually move on to the repair of light and medium machinery and plant equipment. Working under the guidance of experienced technicians, you'll learn to use electronic equipment to test and certify machinery as safe and ready for hire.
You’ll gain hands-on experience with engines, transmission systems, hydraulics, electronics, pneumatics, and various chassis components like tracks, wheels, and booms. From generators and compressors to concrete mixers and compacting machines, no two days will be the same as you build your skills and confidence in a fast-paced environment—all while maintaining strict health and safety standards.
Your standard working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 0730hrs to 1700hrs.

- A competitive annual salary ranging from £25,000 to £28,000 plus quarterly performance based bonuses. The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. - Demonstrate a strong interest in developing your mechanical, diagnostic, and fault-finding skills, even if you’re just starting out.
- Embrace a collaborative environment where you learn from experienced colleagues and gradually build the confidence to work independently.
- While prior experience with plant equipment and small tools is beneficial, a keen interest and willingness to learn is key.
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence. (You might need to jump into the Boels van and pop over to a customer's site to quickly rectify a technical issue)
- Have valid proof of your right to work in the UK – (Boels does not arrange relocation, work visas or provide visa sponsorship)
